End of Life Doula

heartfelt & grounded support around death & dying

Hi, I’m Annie

Annie smiles at the camera in a close-up head shot. She has blonde hair pulled back in a bun, and wears light brown glasses.

I am a trained End of Life Doula who can work with you in-person in Oakland/Bay Area, California or virtually from anywhere.

My approach:

  • Supportive advocacy for your wishes, desires, and bodily autonomy

  • Peaceful presence and witness, bringing you as much comfort as can be accessed given the circumstances

  • Open dialogue and deep listening

  • Uplifting community, chosen family, and your unique story.

How can I support you?

What is an End of Life Doula?

As an End of Life Doula, I provide non-medical end of life support. End of Life Doulas or Death Doulas are part of community care, just like Birth Doulas, to support you in life transitions. We can provide care, education, resources, and warm-hearted space for anyone, no matter where you are. Perhaps you’re navigating the shift to hospice, caregiving for a dying person, or you’re curious about planning ahead. It's important that you know your options when it comes to the practical stuff and have a space to explore your feelings about it.

You might be:

  • Someone with a serious illness, who is planning for an anticipated death;

  • A caregiver or person providing support for a dying person;

  • Someone who is planning ahead for an unexpected death or wants to work through some of their end of life 'stuff'.

It’s important to me that cost is not a barrier to us working together, so I set my rates on a sliding scale based on what you can afford.

Reach out to learn more about rates, and discuss if this is a good fit for you.

*I also donate a portion of my income annually to BIPOC and queer/trans led organizations providing community care and mutual aid. If you’re curious to learn more, don’t hesitate to ask :)

My Offerings

  • Advance Planning

    I can help you understand your options, plan the logistics, and complete important documentation. We can also create a “comfort plan” to describe your wishes and communicate requests during your dying time.

    It’s important to think through your wishes and help those who advocate on your behalf. I’ll help you take care of the details, so you have space for other things.

  • Companionship & Emotional Support

    If you are feeling isolated or need some emotional support as you navigate end of life, I bring a caring presence and active listening.

  • Caregiver Respite & Grief Support

    If you are feeling overwhelmed, I can provide respite by sitting with a loved one while you take a break.

    I also offer a tender space to process anticipatory grief, or grief support after a death.

  • Life Review, Legacy, & Memorial Projects

    I can work with you to capture the stories that matter to you, so that your community can enjoy them. This could look like interviews that we turn into a book, writing letters, recording videos, creating poetry, or music.

    Is there a creative project in your heart? Let’s collaborate to make a unique project honoring your legacy to share with others.

  • Have an idea?

    I want to hear what's on your mind.

    If you're looking for something specific, I will do my best to support you finding the right person to suit your needs.
